You did good Larry. You had better watch it though. I hear the little men in the white coats take you crayons away from you if you start trying to eat them.
Larry, this is a problem that pops us from time to time as we have a lot of chapters that border two states and have members from both. Unfortunatlely, to avoid a lot of confusion, we have to require that the director of a chapter be from the state that the chapter is chartered in. It would cause a lot of confusion if we had, for instance, an Arkansas member's address listed as a contact for a Missouri chapter and chapters are always listed in the state they are chartered in. Also, if the director of any chapter was from another state, he would not be able to vote in state matters as such votes are limited to members of the state. It does penalize a member who belongs to a chapter of another state but they are welcome to hold any position in the chapter other than director. When the by-laws were written by the Advisory Board, a lot of discussion and thought was given to this and it was decided this was the best way of handling it.I know this is probably more information that you wanted (smile), but I just wanted to clarify things. I should have brought this up yesterday at the meeting when nominations were being made but it completely slipped my mind.
Dale has decided, do to tec. difficulties, to run for office at this time but because the Presidency is not open at this point, he will run for Director of OMT until it can be determand if a person from another State can be director of a bordering state chapter.
OMT has active members in both Missouri and Arkansas but IS a MISSOURI chapter started in Missouri but has an active (well liked member) living in Arkansas whom would like to run for the vacated office of Director of the Ozark Mountain Trikers. There is NO Arkansas Chapter of BTW by the border at this time in north central Arkansas, so the OMT being a chapter in good standing with BTW and being in South Central Missouri, draw members from Arkansas.
This must be the case in many States with chapters near thier borders, Active members from Two States.
