We just got back from visiting Dave. It is just a miracle that he's doing so good. He asked me to get him a chocolate milkshake and when we got back they had him sitting in a chair. He said he hurts pretty bad sitting, but he has been flat on his back for 7 weeks. He can barely talk because of having that tube in his throat so long. The doc said it'll be a couple of weeks til he gets his voice back. But he said to tell ya'll hi and thanks for all the prayers. He still has a long haul, but he'll make it.

Was great to hear that Dave is coming round. I know Denise was really worried about him and had good reason to be. I understand part of his problem was getting the hills out of his system. Let's face it, once you have lived here for a while it is hard to live anywhere else.  I have slowed down so much that Lady has to keep taking my pulse to make sure my heart is still beating. If I stretch my naps out any more, I may qualify as bed-ridden. Had to set the alarm clock yesterday to make sure I didn't sleep through my nap. Life is rough but I am going to get a feather bed. That should smooth it out. Still can't keep up with the ol' bats though. They turn a nap into hybernation. Now that is some serious napping.

I think Jack and Denise were going to see Dave this weekend - hope she brings back good news!  We're praying it's all good.
So -- Mr. Carey -- guess that's how I hafto address you now -- no more Mr. Director.  So - how's that new trike coming along?  Ya know - if you worked on it instead of running all over Alton, you might get it finished for riding season.  But what do I know -- I'm just an old bat.

It's a beautiful day out Dale. Every day in the hills is beautiful. Especially when the rain keeps the ol' bats grounded. That Smilin' Granny must have got a really good gift for her birthday. She is still so breathless she still can't talk.
Way to go Jack!!!
