Crittor - The only way to tell if a melon is ripe is to "Plug It".  Walmart won't let you do that. Seems that once you cut a plug outta them they are kinda hard to sell. Sure is a great looking melon though. Gotta taste good. Larry, you did good!!!

Larry's watermelon. Probably weighs about 80 lbs. so far, we think. We hope it will be ripe for the OMT Trike In. Don't know. It might not be ripe until the state trike In. Picture taken by Rosie. Hope it comes thru. The little one weighed 26 lbs. But alas we picked it a little to soon.  The curly thing was brown, the color was dull and it had a white bottom. Everyone give us your input on how to tell when they are ripe.
