This is really short notice, but maybe some of you will be interested. Rolla will be having its 11th annual Summerfest, Friday, June 3rd and Saturday, June 4th. There are a lot of activities planned that I won't take time or space to describe here. You can read the schedule of events at their website at www.rollasummerfest.com. I am only going to mention in this post the activities that involve cars, bikes and trikes.
On Friday, June 3rd, they will have a "Cruise-in" with classic cars, a lot of motorcycles, and some trikes. It starts with the Summerfest Kickoff at 4:00 p.m. at the Tourist Information Center in St. James, where they will have music and food and a gathering & lining up of cars, bikes and trikes. The Cruise-in will start about 6:00 p.m. and will run down old Route 66 (not I-44) to downtown Rolla (about 12 miles.) Anyone is welcome to join in for this cruise-in.
On Saturday, June 4th, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. they will have the cars and bikes lined up along Pine Street in downtown Rolla for the Cruisin' Committee's judging. (I don't think they will be judging trikes.) Then at 5:00 they will have the vehicles move a couple blocks to the Festival park where they will have the awards cerenomy at 6:00 p.m. While they do not have a judging category for trikes, anyone is welcome to park their trike for display along with the other vehicles. There are a number of trikes in Rolla, although I have not yet met any of the owners.
During these two days there will be music & dancing, contests, food, arts & crafts vendors and activities & games for the kids. Again, I know this is short notice and it's a long drive, but I thought I should let you know in case some of you guys with pretty trikes want to show them off and do a little PR for BTW.
